It's been a while since I wrote (although you can read some of what I've been up to on our family's blog), so I figured I'd share a few photos from the last several months.
Here's the boys from our ward at Scout Camp with their leader, John Ortiz. I got to spend a couple days there, in the heat and humidity. One thing that impressed me was seeing how comfortable my boys were around this group of boys. My boys have known them for less than a year, while the others have known each other for most of their lives. As you can see, Colin (fourth from left) and Carson (second from right) fit right in, as natural as can be. What a great group of young men.
I was cleaning off some memory cards the other day and found some I snapped one day at t-ball. I love this picture of Levi. He looks like a ballplayer, and he did every day on the field. For all the fun of finally getting to play, he's also a competitor, and I think you can see that on his face -- he's focused on the game, not grinning for the photo.
Ah, the joys of business travel. On a recent trip to Richland, Wash., I was given a room with a balcony that overlooked the Columbia River. But my schedule was so busy that I never got to enjoy it, except at 6:15 one morning when I peeked outside and saw this gorgeous sunrise. I soaked it in for a few minutes, then drove to my 6:45 a.m. meeting on the project and didn't return to the room until well after dark. I missed the sunrise the next day...because I had to leave for the airport at 4:30 a.m. But this one was sweet while it lasted.
Finally, I know this isn't a great photo, but it's my favorite on this post. My wife and her dad, sharing a moment on his back porch in Idaho a few weeks ago. I snuck this one with my iPhone, which explains the funny angle and the slightly 1970s coloring (both of which I think make it even more cool). We don't have many photos of them together lately, because we don't see her parents very often. I love that they looked relaxed and natural, and completely immersed in just visiting together. It's a day in the life... I'll see this one in my mind for a long time.
